Ivy Corps is a unique component of Operation Opportunity whereby students and graduates of top universities volunteer a minimum of two hours per month to mentor participating children of fallen service members and veterans on the college application, admission, and assimilation process. These interactions will take place via whiteboard technology, video conferencing, and instant messaging available through our online platform, myoo.operationopportunity.org. During certain events, mentors may meet with mentees in person, as well. Ivy Corps mentors will provide children of fallen service members and veterans with one-on-one advice on everything from preparing the FAFSA to writing college entrance essays to developing a list of target schools. Ivy Corps mentors will be given extensive information on college admissions mentoring, and will also supply motivation, insights, and reflections from their own experiences. Volunteers must attend or have graduated from a four-year university.
